Fair Lawn Avenue bridge to be replaced in 2018

The dilapidated Fair Lawn Avenue bridge that connects Passaic and Bergen counties will be replaced by 2018, officials said.

The project is estimated to cost around $12 million, to be funded by federal monies, said Steven Edmond, Passaic County engineer.

The current bridge, which spans the Passaic River and connects Route 20 in Paterson to Fair Lawn Avenue, has been repaired several times over the past several years. Four years ago, there was some steel work done on the structure, Edmond said.
